Mammals listed under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) are noted when applicable, as well as State of Utah listings as endangered, threatened, sensitive, or extirpated. For each mammalian species listed, we present in telegraphic style a life history account, sensitivity Status, and currently accepted nomenclature. LT Listed threatened: Any species likely to become an endangered species within the foreseeable future throughout all or a significant portion of its range (16 U.S.C. (20)). PE Proposed endangered: Any species for which a proposed rule to list the species as endangered has been published in the Federal Register.

The BLM’s Threatened and Endangered Species Program works to conserve and recover federally-listed animal and plant species and their habitats on public lands. The program also shares cooperative responsibility with other BLM programs and partners for conservation of species proposed for listing and designated Bureau sensitive species with a goal of avoiding.
